Weekday Daytime Screenings
Many of our weekday daytime screenings are booked by school parties and are sold out by the time the festival starts. Those wishing to come to a weekday daytime screening are advised to book well in advance.
Age Recommendation
If a film has a BBFC certificate, this is clearly indicated. In all cases, we have recommended a suitable age for each screening. If you would like advice on the suitability of any film, please contact the festival office on 0114 276 3534.
Special Offer Festival Meal Deal
You can get a child’s meal and child’s cinema ticket for just £5.95 during the festival – just ask at the Box Office for a festival meal deal ticket.
Supervision Of Children
Children under 12 years must be accompanied by an adult in the cinema; please do not leave children unattended. Showcomotion and the Showroom are not responsible for children left alone in the cinema. All workshop leaders have been CRB checked.
Times
There are no trailers and no adverts before the screenings; the films will start at the times advertised – so get to the cinema early to buy your popcorn… The time given for the duration of the film does not include the time for any introductions or question-and-answer sessions after the film unless stated.
Access
All public areas of the Showroom are fully accessible for people using wheelchairs. Please notify the Box Office on 0114 275 7727 if you wish to reserve a wheelchair user space in the cinema. Toilet facilities for wheelchair users are available in the bar, café and lower cinema lobby. There is a lift for customer use. The cinema has infra red sound facilities for people who are hearing impaired – ask at the Box Office for a head set. For a large print version of this programme, please ask the Box Office
Subtitles
Some of the films in the festival are subtitled and these are clearly indicated; some screenings will have a subtitle reader. It’s a good idea to tell your child to expect subtitles in advance of the screening to allow them to ask you questions. You could give them a summary of the film beforehand to reduce any worries about not being able to follow the story. After about 10 minutes into the film, children usually forget about the subtitles because they have become engrossed in the visual information and the action of the film.
